Stainless steel chimney grids
A stainless steel chimney grid protects the chimney against birds, jackdaws, leaves, branches and other debris. This helps keep the chimney opening clear and reduces the risk of blockages, poor draught, smoke backflow and the accumulation of nesting material.
Omnimesh supplies finished chimney grids in stainless steel 304, developed for professional applications. The grids are strong, low-maintenance and designed to be easy to install, remove and reinstall during inspection or cleaning.
We supply three models: the standard chimney grid, the deluxe chimney grid and the chimney spider for round chimney ducts or chimney pots.
Why install a chimney grid?
Chimneys are attractive nesting places for birds, especially jackdaws. When birds bring nesting material into the chimney, the flue can become partially or completely blocked. This can lead to reduced draught, smoke nuisance, odour problems or dangerous situations.
A chimney grid forms a physical barrier on top of the chimney. Birds and coarse debris are kept out, while smoke evacuation and ventilation are maintained. This makes a stainless steel chimney grid a simple and durable solution for preventive chimney protection.

Types of chimney grids
Standard chimney grid
The standard model is the most commonly chosen chimney grid.
It is easy to install, simple to remove for maintenance and suitable for most traditional chimneys.
Use the standard model when:
- you are looking for a stainless steel chimney grid that can be installed quickly
- you want to keep a universal model in stock
- protection against birds and debris is the main requirement
- the grid must remain easy to remove
Deluxe chimney grid
The deluxe model has been developed for situations where extra ventilation is required. Thanks to the raised edges, more free airflow remains possible along the sides, while the chimney is still protected against birds, jackdaws and coarse debris.
Use the deluxe model when:
- you want to keep a premium alternative in stock
- extra ventilation along the raised edges is important
- the chimney opening should not be covered too flat

Chimney spider
The chimney spider is designed for round chimney pipes, round pots and round chimney ducts. This model is useful when a flat grid does not fit properly or when a quick bird-resistant solution is needed for a round opening.
Use the chimney spider when:
- you are looking for a solution for round chimney pots or pipes
- a flat chimney grid is not suitable
- you want to offer a compact bird-resistant product
- you want to complete your range of chimney protection products
Material: stainless steel 304
Our chimney grids are produced from stainless steel 304. This material is strong, corrosion-resistant and suitable for long-term outdoor use.
Stainless steel 304 is a good choice for chimney grids because it is:
- resistant to normal weather conditions
- strong enough for professional use
- finished neatly and durably
- low-maintenance
- suitable for repeated installation and removal
Benefits of stainless steel chimney grids
Protection against jackdaws and other birds
Jackdaws and other birds can bring nesting material into the chimney. A strong stainless steel chimney grid prevents them from using the opening as a nesting place.
Lower risk of blockage
Leaves, branches, feathers and nesting material can obstruct smoke evacuation. By shielding the opening, a chimney grid helps prevent blockages.
Safer chimney use
A clear chimney opening is important for proper smoke evacuation. By reducing dirt build-up and nesting, the grid contributes to safer chimney operation.
Removable for maintenance
A chimney must remain accessible for cleaning and inspection. Our grids are designed to be installed, removed and reinstalled.
Durable stainless steel 304
Stainless steel 304 is strong, corrosion-resistant and suitable for outdoor use. This makes the grids resistant to normal weather conditions and long-term placement on the chimney.
Practical installation and maintenance
A chimney grid must be installed firmly, but it must also remain easily accessible and removable for inspection, cleaning and periodic maintenance. This is important because every chimney must be regularly checked and maintained by a professional or chimney sweep.
During cleaning or inspection, the grid can be removed and then reinstalled. This keeps the chimney opening protected against birds, jackdaws, leaves and debris, without making maintenance unnecessarily difficult.
The choice of the right chimney grid can depend on the type of chimney, the installation, local regulations and any insurance requirements. Always check which model is permitted or recommended for the specific situation.
We are happy to help you choose the right model.
Developed with practical field experience
Our finished chimney grids have been developed in collaboration with chimney sweeps. During the design process, we took into account what they consider important in practice: quick installation, easy removal for maintenance, sufficient smoke evacuation and protection against birds, jackdaws, leaves and debris.
The grids are designed to protect the chimney opening without making maintenance unnecessarily difficult.
