Double crimped woven wire mesh – single crimp mesh
Maximum mesh stability thanks to locking at every intersection
Regular and accurately controlled mesh openings
Reliable under mechanical and dynamic load
Double crimped woven mesh
Double crimped woven wire mesh, also known as single crimp woven wire mesh, is a widely used type of woven grille for industrial filtration, screening installations and mechanical protection.
Because the wires are locked at every intersection, a very stable and regular mesh structure is created. This makes this type of mesh particularly suitable for applications where accurate separation, dimensional stability and process reliability are required.

What is double crimped woven wire mesh?
In double crimped woven wire mesh, both the warp and weft wires are pre-crimped and mechanically locked into each other at every intersection during weaving. This complete intersection locking prevents the wires from shifting and ensures a uniform, reproducible mesh opening across the entire grille.
Double crimped mesh is therefore the standard solution for applications with small to medium mesh openings where stability and precision are essential.
Construction and mechanical properties of double crimped woven mesh
The wires are mechanically profiled before weaving and interlock without welding. This continuous locking creates a grille that:
remains dimensionally stable during use
maintains a constant mesh opening
offers good resistance to vibration, shocks and varying loads
Compared with intermediate crimped mesh, double crimped mesh offers greater local stability at each intersection. This is important for finer mesh openings and accurate separation.
Dimensions, mesh openings and delivery options
mesh openings possible from approx. 2 mm to 20 mm
available with square or rectangular mesh openings
standard panels available
custom production possible at short notice
Double crimped woven wire mesh is available as rigid panels, on rolls or as custom-made grilles, depending on the application and installation method.

Applications of double crimped woven wire mesh
Double crimped woven grilles are often used as:
industrial screen grilles with fine to medium mesh openings
filter grilles in process and production installations
protective and guarding grilles around machines
grilles in installations with continuous mechanical load
architectural and functional applications where regularity and stability are required
When should you choose double crimped wire mesh?
Double crimped woven wire mesh is the right choice when:
small to medium mesh openings are required
maximum mesh stability and accuracy are needed
constant screening or filtration performance is important
the grille is exposed to long-term mechanical load
For larger mesh openings, intermediate crimped mesh is often more suitable, while lock crimp mesh is used for very heavy loads.
Points of attention for double crimped woven wire mesh
In double crimped woven wire mesh, the wires are mechanically locked at the intersections by mutual tension.
This type of grille therefore requires extra attention at the edges.
The wire ends cannot be shortened without limit: when a wire is cut too short, it loses its locking and may slide out of the grille.
