Sieve bend
Sieve bends are curved sieve elements used for separating solids and liquids, dewatering product streams and classifying materials. They are often made from slotted sieve material, also known as wedge wire or profile wire screen.
Thanks to their curved shape, the product can flow over the sieve surface, while liquid and fine particles are discharged through the slot openings. Coarser particles continue to move over the bend and are discharged separately.


What is a sieve bend?
A screenbend is a curved sieve element in which the sieve surface usually consists of slotted sieves with precise slot openings. The element has a concave or curved shape, allowing the product to be guided over the sieve surface.
The liquid or fine fraction passes through the slots, while larger particles continue to move over the sieve surface. This makes a sieve bend suitable for dewatering, solid-liquid separation, classification and process screening.


How does a sieve bend work?
A sieve bend works without moving parts. The product is fed onto the top of the curved sieve surface and flows down over the bend. During this movement, the profile-shaped wires remove a thin layer of liquid and fine particles from the product stream.
The fine fraction or liquid passes through the slots. The larger fraction remains on the sieve surface and is discharged further.

- solids content
- required separation or dewatering
- material and wear load
In many applications, the effective separation is finer than the actual slot opening. That is why it is important to select the correct slot opening according to the product and the desired result.
